Ayala Land’s Smart Choices to Live Sustainably Affirmed with Accolades

Ayala Land continues to provide living and working spaces that evolve with the needs of the future

Making cities resilient and sustainable has never been more important than now. An estimated 70 percent of people will live in cities, predicts World Bank senior managing director Axel van Trotsenburg.

Leading property developer Ayala Land, Inc. continues to innovate and diversify into other successful business lines while maintaining its development process in creating master-planned communities that are sustainable with lasting value for stakeholders.

In the first half of 2023, ALI received recognition for its commercial and office buildings, residential and mixed-use developments, and for excellence in construction, among others.

The Asia Pacific segment of the International Property Awards 2023 recently named ALI-subsidiary, Alveo Land’s The Lattice at Parklinks project was awarded Best Residential High-Rise Development.

Alveo Land also won multiple Titan Property Awards this year, including Gold Awards for its Portico mixed-use development and Cerule at Solinea residential high-rise project. The subsidiary’s Commtalk community and lifestyle magazine furthermore won a Platinum Award while its interactive branding and advertising campaigns Amplify and Inter|Spaces won Titan Golds.

Alveo Land is recognized in the Residential High-Rise Development Philippines category of the 2023-2024 Asia Pacific Property Awards for its latest signature development, The Lattice at Parklinks.

Meanwhile, in commercial leasing, Ayala Land’s One Ayala East & West Towers also won as Best Office Development in the Philippines in the Asia Pacific segment of the International Property Awards 2023.

Ayala Land was also recognized at the LEED Projects Award Ceremony in March of this year for the LEED Certification of its Ayala North Exchange Towers 1 & 2, and the Ayala Triangle Gardens Tower 2. These certifications helped the Philippines land in the top 10 countries that have contributed to LEED certification in 2022.

Makati Development Corporation, a leading Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Construction Management company and Ayala Land’s subsidiary, earned six awards for various high-rise and land development projects from the Philippine Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards. MDC also received over 100 citations from the Safety Organization of the Philippines Inc. for its construction safety records and practices in its various project sites nationwide.

ASEAN’s best ecosystem restoration projects

Ayala Land’s Cebu and Davao Carbon Forest Projects were among the eight distinguished greening and reforestation programs in the ASEAN region. The two projects were recognized during the 50th Anniversary of World Environment Day by the ASEAN Center for Biodiversity in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The awardees, recognized for their exemplary work in ecosystem restoration in Lao PDR, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines, were chosen based on ecological soundness, socio-economic impacts, sustainability, and compliance with governance and institutional mechanisms.

The Ayala Land Carbon Forest Project in Davao City was listed in the category “Medium-Scale initiatives,” which recognizes projects with up to 5,000 native trees planted. On the other hand, the Carbon Forest in Cebu City was included in the category “Large-Scale Initiatives” with projects with over 5,000 native trees planted.

Ayala Land has embarked on a Net Zero journey to decarbonize operations by shifting to renewable energy and other technologies that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions during operations. To complete its greenhouse gas reduction efforts, the company has committed to restore forests and rewild where possible in its landbank. Not only will carbon forests absorb GHG from the atmosphere, but they will also cool surface temperatures, recharge aquifers and conserve soil and biodiversity for future generations.

“We are grateful that our efforts have been recognized by scientists and experts in the field of reforestation. Growing forests is a challenging but necessary task for our children and future generations. We are honored to be part of a movement to expand forests in the ASEAN region and encouraged to continue reforestation in other areas,” Robert S. Lao, SVP and group head of Ayala Land Estates, said.

Right and smart

ALI believes that building homes that support sustainability and human potential is the right and smart thing to do. Sustainable and affordable homes open a doorway to green growth. Indeed, the initiatives of ALI are noticed and recognized by different award-giving bodies domestically and globally.

“While we continue to innovate and diversify into other successful business lines such as logistics and healthcare, property development remains at our core. Our goal throughout the development process is to create master-planned communities that are sustainable and that provide lasting value for all stakeholders,” said ALI in a statement.

ALI delivered strong growth in the first quarter of 2023, with its diversified real-estate portfolio generating consolidated revenues of P30.9 billion, marking an increase of 26 percent year-on-year. Its net income also grew by 42 percent, reaching P4.5 billion. Property development revenues, in particular, increased by 8 percent to P17.1 billion due to higher residential completions, bookings, and the sale of office units.

Robert S. Lao, SVP and group head of Ayala Land Estates, says of their twin awards, “We are grateful that scientists and experts in the field of reforestation have recognized our efforts. Growing forests is challenging but necessary for our children and future generations. We are honored to be part of a movement to expand forests in the ASEAN region and encouraged to continue reforestation in other areas.”
