Iraya-Mangyan booth opens at UP Town Center

Iraya-Mangyan Social Development Program, in partnership with Ayala Malls, unveiled its newest and biggest Iraya-Mangyan booth at U.P. Town Center last May 6, 2017. Located on level 1 of the mall, the booth showcases products intricately and meticulously handwoven by the members of the indigenous Iraya-Mangyan community of Oriental Mindoro.

Gracing the launch of the Iraya-Mangyan booth were Dona Bea Zobel de Ayala, champion advocate of the of the Iraya-Mangyan program, together with Don Jaime Zobel de Ayala, Jaime Augusto and Lizzie Zobel, Sophia Zobel Elizalde and Patsy Elizalde, and Mariana Zobel de Ayala.  Also joining this special occasion were Mercy Tuason, Ambassador to the Vatican; Ayala Land executives led by  Rowena Tomeldan, Head of Ayala Malls Group; and Madi Botoon, Iraya-Mangyan Booth Operations Manager.

A collaboration between Ayala Foundation Inc. and Ayala Malls, the Iraya-Mangyan booth underscores Ayala Land’s commitment to preserve and promote local culture and spur economic development through sustainable community livelihood programs.  Proceeds from the sales of the handicrafts will directly fund the educational and skills training of the Iraya-Mangyan community.

Currently, the Iraya-Mangyan booths are located in Glorietta, Greenbelt, Alabang Town Center and  U.P. Town Center.
