ALI shares sustainability initiatives in 2-day dialogue in Bangkok

Top executives from leading Asian corporations and senior government officials from India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, convened to identify solutions and next steps for operationalizing corporate commitments for large-scale clean energy development in Asia. Ayala Land’s Sustainability and Planning Manager Anna Maria Gonzales was a featured speaker at this unique event. Gonzales highlighted the innovative ways Ayala Land is creating incentives for renewable energy and energy efficiency within the organization – including through embedding sustainability metrics in performance evaluations and rewarding property managers for energy savings – resulting in a “race” to achieve savings. The two-day dialogue on “Enabling Private Sector Clean Energy Investment in Southeast and South Asia” brought together 80 early-movers for candid and action-oriented peer exchange and learning for the following objectives:

  1. To help companies achieve their sustainability goals;
  2. Help Asian countries meet their climate change, economic growth, and social development targets;
  3. To solidify the region’s role as a leader in the clean energy economy.

Ayala Land’s participation in the event underscores its commitment to uplift society and protect the environment as the leading developer of sustainable estates in the Philippines. The company recently announced that it aims to be carbon neutral by 2022 through a combination of initiatives, which include passive cooling design, energy efficiency, renewable energy sourcing, and carbon offset mechanisms such as forest regeneration and protection.
