Four Neo-Angono Artists present PROJECTSPACE

To explore the property of space as a part of one’s self, and to present it as one’s very own domain and reflection is the shared artistic vision of Allan Alcantara, Aaron Bautista, Carlos ‘Totong’ Francisco II and Isidro ‘Jon’ Santos. In PROJECTSPACE, these four Neo-Angono artists capture space as it is transformed from the ephemeral and indistinct to intelligible forms that leave lingering impressions of the intangible: something mysterious and nostalgic.
In this exhibit of recent works, space, as depicted by each artist greatly varies. From landscapes such as abstract cityscapes and wispy impressions of nature, to the realm of the human, from our personal spheres of interaction to glimpses of the insides of the human body itself. When asked by Richard Gappi, former president of the Neo-Angono Artists Collective, the artists explain that they “aim to paint the exterior world in such a way as to evoke the mysterious richness and vastness of the interior world each of us carries within… the small things that strike us as poignant, even if only for a fleeting instant”.
PROJECTSPACE runs from September 30 to October 12, 2009 at the ArtistSpace.
