The traditional Makati New Year Eve’s Countdown will be held at the intersection of Ayala Avenue and Makati Avenue. As early as 12:01 AM December 28, 2008 (Sunday), both directions of Ayala Avenue (from Paseo de Roxas to North Drive) and Makati Avenue (from North Drive to Paseo de Roxas) shall be closed to vehicular traffic to give way to event preparations. Traffic shall be rerouted as follows:
FOR LIGHT VEHICLES
From EDSA/McKinley to Salcedo Village/MCBD – Take Ayala Avenue, turn right to Apartment Ridge (temporary two-way), right to Sta. Potenciana, then left to Paseo de Roxas toward destination.
From EDSA/Mc k inley to Ayala Center Greenbelt/Legaspi Village – Take Ayala Avenue, turn left to North Drive, right to Office Drive, left to Rizal Drive, right to West Drive, cross Makati Avenue to Esperanza Street; or turn left to Makati Avenue, right to Arnaiz Avenue, right to Greenbelt Drive or Paseo de Roxas toward destination; or from North Drive they may cross Makati Avenue , make a short counter-flow on Southbound lane of Makati Avenue and turn left to Dela Rosa Street.
From Gil Puyat Avenue to Ayala Center Glorietta and EDSA – Take Ayala Avenue, turn right to Paseo de Roxas, left to Esperanza Street toward Makati Avenue and North Drive or from Paseo de Roxas, turn left to Arnaiz Avenue toward EDSA.
From Gil Puyat Avenue/Ayala Avenue Extn. to Salcedo Village – Take Ayala Avenue, turn left to Paseo de Roxas , and left to Villar Street.
From Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge/JP Rizal Avenue to Ayala Center or Arnaiz Avenue/EDSA – Take Makati Avenue, turn right to Paseo de Roxas, left to Esperanza Street toward Makati Avenue and North Drive or from Paseo de Roxas, turn left to Arnaiz Avenue toward EDSA.
FOR PASSENGER BUSES (PUBs)
From EDSA to Pasay City/LRT and vice-versa: From December 28 to 30, 2008, public utility buses plying the EDSA route will not be allowed to enter Ayala Avenue. Instead, PUBs from EDSA shall turn right to Gil Puyat Avenue, turn left to Makati Avenue, right to Paseo de Roxas and right to Ayala Avenue or from EDSA turn right to Arnaiz Avenue, right to Paseo de Roxas, left to Ayala Avenue. On December 31, they will no longer be allowed to pass thru Makati Avenue/Paseo de Roxas, in stead they shall take the stretch of Gil Puyat Avenue.
NOTE: From EDSA buses will not be allowed to enter Ayala Avenue.
FOR PASSENGER JEEPNEYS (PUJs)
Guadalupe/Ibabaw-Ayala & Zapote /Ayala Routes – From Makati Avenue shall turn right to Paseo de roxas, right to Ayala Avenue towards Gil Puyat Avenue/Ayala Extn.
Makati Loop – From Makati Avenue shall turn right to Paseo de Roxas, straight ahead then turn left to Esperanza Street toward Makati Avenue and vice-versa.
Ayala / Washinington - From EDSA-McKinley shall turn left to EDSA, turn right to Arnaiz Avenue, right to Paseo de Roxas, left to Ayala Avenue toward Gil Puyat Avenue and vice versa.
Ayala / Mantrade – From Pasong Tamo Extn. shall turn right to Arnaiz Avenue, left to Makati Avenue, make a short counter-flow then turn left to Dela Rosa Street, left to Salcedo Street, right to Herrera Street and left to Pasong Tamo Extn.
