Gator’s Center was brimming with excitement as early as 7:30 in the morning of Saturday (November 17), as ALI’s lady spikers were about to go head to head with the ladies of BPI for a chance at the JZA Volleyball Cup. Winning two sets out of three against BPI, they were on their way to the championship game versus IMI, whose team won against AC.
Over the lunch hour, ALI’s men’s volleyball team members were mustering all their power against Manila Water, who bowed down to the spike kings on the third and final set. Both games were heart-stopping for everyone who came to cheer for their respective teams.
The afternoon proved much more electrifying! The ladies went face to face with the very robust team of IMI and, moving with pure drive and determination, performed a clean sweep! The ALI Ladies won three sets, straight! Iris Patrona was on the groove, jumping and spiking one play after another. The ladies team was as strong as ever and exploited every strategy in the book to bag the crown.
ALI took the JZA Cup for Ladies Volleyball through sheer endurance, intensity and team work.
On the other hand, the ALI spike kings led by no less than ALI president Jim Ayala put up a fierce fight against AC during the neck to neck Championship game. The team landed second due to a mere 1 point lead of AC but they remained bona fide ALI heroes till the end.
Our ALI athletes are so deserving of our pride and admiration. They practice and work hard to give ALI a good standing amongst competition, be it a friendly game against the Ayala Groups or any other tournament. So, next time, don’t miss the games. It’s exhilarating! It’s exciting! It’s a lot of fun!

ALI is now on top of the heap, garnering the highest points for the JZA Volleyball Cup among the rest of the Ayala companies. The prospects are looking very well for ALI, whose combined points from all the JZA tourneys have gained for the company a huge edge in this fight for an over-all JZA crown. We are now number 3 after IMI and MWC and a top score in golf coming soon may just upset the cart and push ALI up.
